Coat Cooke


Saxophonist, improvisor, composer and bandleader – Coat Cooke is acclaimed as one of Canada’s leading creative musicians.  Whether appearing with his acoustic trio or leading the legendary NOW Orchestra, his performances throughout Canada, the USA, Mexico and Europe generate inspiration for audiences and musicians everywhere. 

Coat has performed with many of today’s great improvisors: George Lewis, Marilyn Crispell, Barry Guy, Wadada Leo Smith, Amina Claudine Myers.  His collaborations with spoken word, dance and mixed media are legion.  And his ensembles continue to engage top musicians from the West Coast’s capital of creative music, Vancouver.
