Saxophonist, improviser, composer and bandleader – all are Coat Cooke. He has toured Canada, the USA, Mexico and Europe to great acclaim, whether in performance with his acoustic trio, electric band, jazz orchestra, or in one of many exciting collaborative efforts with spoken word, dance or mixed media. He has performed with some of the world’s great improvisers including: George Lewis, Marilyn Crispell, Barry Guy, Wadada Leo Smith and Amina Claudine Myers.

Some of his many compositions can be heard on CDs of his bands Lunar Adventures, the NOW Orchestra, as well as the Coat Cooke Trio’s Up Down Down Up featuring an all-improvised program. Coat gives everything he has, and each performance is a special event to his audiences.
